X-Men ’97 Season 3 Gets Exciting Update From Rogue Actor

Rogue voice actor Lenore Zann recently gave an exciting update about the production of X-Men ’97 Season 3. The update comes ahead of the animated TV series’ Season 2 premiere on Disney+, which remains undated at this time.

X-Men ’97 premiered on Disney+ in March 2024 to critical acclaim, with many praising its mature writing, action sequences, and animation. The animated revival of the ’90s cartoon X-Men: The Animated Series was also a huge hit for the streaming service, with the series premiere racking up four million views globally after only five days. Season 2 has been in production since before the series premiered, while Season 3 is about to begin voice recording, according to Zann.

What did Lenore Zann say about X-Men ’97 Season 3?

During an Indiana Comic Convention panel moderated by Collider, Zann revealed that she would begin filming voice lines for Season 3 this month. “I’m about to start to go into the studio next week to start on season three, so I’ve got lots to look forward to,” the Rogue voice actor shared.

Zann also confirmed that X-Men ’97 Season 2 would be “coming out in 2026.” While fans initially thought the second season would premiere on Disney+ this year, Marvel announced the delay last month, with TV Head Brad Winderbaum revealing that X-Men ’97 wouldn’t return until 2026.

“We’re working on it now. It’s exciting,” he added.

X-Men ’97 Season 3 is notable for being the first season to feature a new head writer, with Matthew Chauncey replacing Beau DeMayo, who created the series and wrote its first and second seasons before being fired by Marvel. DeMayo has been very vocal about his exit from Marvel, claiming that the studio is a “toxic environment” with “criminal working conditions.” The creator has also alleged that Marvel is massively reworking Season 2 following his exit.

X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men ’97 Season 1 are available to stream on Disney+. Season 2 is set to premiere in 2026.
