Following the success of Daredevil: Born Again, a new rumor suggests that Marvel Studios might be planning to revive another TV show from Netflix‘s discontinued Defenders Saga.
So far, Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/The Punisher is the only returning character expected to receive a special presentation on Disney+. The fan-favorite character will also next be seen in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which debuts on July 31, 2026.
What Netflix TV show is Marvel Studios potentially reviving?
According to insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios is reportedly developing a new Jessica Jones project more than six years after Netflix canceled the original show. This rumor comes ahead of Krysten Ritter’s long-awaited Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which will reunite Ritter’s Jessica Jones with Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil.
At the moment, it’s still unclear if the rumored project would be a full series or a special presentation. However, a previous report last year claimed that Marvel Studios had begun searching for writers for its potential Jessica Jones Season 4, which was initially teased by Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum.
“[It’s coming] maybe sooner than you think,” Winderbaum previously said.
Daredevil: Born Again is executive produced by Dario Scardapane, who’s also serving as the showrunner. Besides Ritter, Season 2 will also feature new cast members Matthew Lillard and Lili Taylor. Following Ritter’s casting, fans have also started speculating that the rest of The Defenders might also be appearing in Season 2, including Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist. The next installment will debut on March 4, 2026.
