Star-Lord Set for Surprising MCU Return in Disney+ TV Show — Report

Just as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 promised, Star-Lord is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe — just not in a show any fans expected him to appear in.

Which MCU Disney+ show will Star-Lord appear in?

According to noted scooper James Mack on X, Star-Lord will next appear in VisionQuest before reuniting with the rest of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Doomsday. The character’s inclusion in VisionQuest is nothing but surprising, considering that Star-Lord has never crossed paths with Paul Bettany’s Vision before in the MCU. Of course, since scoopers aren’t 100% accurate, fans should take this report with a grain of salt for now.

Created by Star Trek: Picard showrunner Terry Matalas, VisionQuest serves as a spinoff sequel to both WandaVision and Agatha All Along, picking up with Vision after the events of the former, as he struggles to connect with his restored memories.

Joining Bettany in the series are two major MCU alums, James Spader and James D’Arcy, who are reprising their roles as Ultron and Jarvis, respectively. Faran Tahir will also be back for the first time since 2008’s Iron Man as former Ten Rings faction leader Raza.

Ruaridh Mollica will be making his MCU debut in the series as Tommy Maximoff/Speed, the speedster son of Vision and Wanda, whose soul was placed into the teenage body of Thomas Shepherd in the series finale of Agatha All Along. Several AIs created by Tony Stark will also appear in VisionQuest, including E.D.I.T.H., F.R.I.D.A.Y., and D.U.M.-E.

VisionQuest will consist of eight episodes, one less than both WandaVision and Agatha All Along. The sci-fi series is currently slated to debut on Disney+ in late 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.

Peter Quill/Star-Lord is played by Chris Pratt in the MCU. The actor made his debut as the cosmic superhero in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and reprised the role in the sequels Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023).

Pratt also appeared alongside the rest of the Guardians in the films Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Thor: Love and Thunder, as well as the Marvel Studios Special Presentation The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (both 2022). Multiple variants of Star-Lord have also appeared in the animated Disney+ series What If…?, all of whom were voiced by Brian T. Delaney.
