Superhero Hype Cosplay: Poison Ivy
Note From the Editor: This week, Superhero Hype’s cosplay correspondent, Ashlynne Dae, is celebrating the end of November with one of her favorite cosplays. From the pages of Batman and the arms of Harley Quinn, here’s Poison Ivy!
I really love plants. And I mean I really love them. I think I must have about 55 living house plants and a rather sizable succulent garden outside and some of my bigger babies on my backyard patio.
Plants are a really great self care tool, and help ground you during a stressful time. Plus they like when you talk to them so it gives you a reason to speak to something if you live alone during these times!
I highly advocate for plants. So it’s no surprise that I connect with Poison Ivy. She is nature's daughter and the queen of the green.
She also really loves plants. She likes plants more than she likes people, a sentiment I can hugely identify with at this point in time.
We are also both redheads, that’s always a bonus as I love cosplaying a character I can use my natural hair for. Although I usually still wear wigs because it’s easier than styling my unruly curls.
While I have always cosplayed Ivy with a normal skin tone, I do want to make a new version of her and rock her green skin.
Covering things in that many ivy leaves is tedious though, and I think I can stand to wait a little longer until I have to do that process again!
Pamela uses her appeal to the opposite sex to get what she wants. She also has a deadly kiss and she deeply cares about the environment.
More importantly, she uses her control over plants to try to prevent the destruction of it and protect the environment from humanity's destruction.
While I don’t necessarily agree with Ivy’s tactics, I do try to limit my impact on the environment when possible. I also plant as many new plants as possible to help purify our air. One can never have too many babies after all, and I think Ivy would agree.
