Marvel Celebrates 30 Years of X-Force With Rob Liefeld This Fall

Rob Liefeld was a fresh-faced 23-year-old iconoclast when he and co-writer Fabian Nicieza launched X-Force in 1991. Now, three decades later, Liefeld is returning to the book that helped make him a star. Marvel has announced that Liefeld will preside over a new X-Force one-shot later this year as both writer and artist.

X-Force: Killshot will ring in the 30th anniversary of the team’s first appearance with a new story that finds Cable leading a crew that features Shatterstar, Venompool, and one of Liefeld’s more recent creations, Major X. Readers will follow along as each member travels back to a various point in time and leads his or her own squadron of heroes. Their mission? To launch an “all-out assault” on Asteroid S and bring an end to the villainous reign of Cable’s clone, Stryfe.

When it hit stands in the early ‘90s, X-Force #1 was an instant success for Marvel, becoming the company’s second top-selling issue of all time. And Liefeld sounds confident that Killshot will give that milestone the celebration it deserves.

X-Force was a huge gamble that paid off big for Marvel, paid off big for retailers and it changed my life forever.” said Liefeld. “I’m thrilled and honored to share Killshot with everyone. Thirty years in the making, I intend to make every page a huge kick for fans new and old.”
