Why Star Wars Fans Think Rey Movie Is Canceled

Not long ago, rumors emerged about Daisy Ridley’s Rey movie being canceled. As the massive Star Wars universe continues to expand, fans are curious about the upcoming projects in the franchise.

So, is the Rey movie really shelved? Let’s find out!

Has Daisy Ridley’s Rey movie been canceled by Disney and Lucasfilm?

No, the Rey movie has not been canceled by Disney and Lucasfilm.

Scooper Daniel Richtman reportedly claimed last month that the film has been put “on hold once again.” However, he did confirm that the movie was not canceled and that its development was only temporarily halted. Now another industry insider, Jeff Sneider, has confirmed that the project is still actively in development.

“LucasFilm doesn’t have a script yet. So, it’s not on hold. It’s actively being written…LucasFilm is waiting on the Rey movie to be delivered…That script has not been finalized. If it was on hold, they’d say, ‘You know what, stop writing. We’re not even gonna do it.’ But they’re waiting for it. So it’s not on hold,” he said on The Hot Mic.

In addition, Sneider confirmed that this was not the only Star Wars spinoff with Rey as the lead in development. This hints that Daisy Ridley could lead several other projects in the vast slate. “As I’ve said in the past, that movie is not the only one with Rey in it as a lead character. There are multiple projects being developed with Rey as the lead character.”

The rumored Rey project will reportedly follow the character in the aftermath of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. As the project makes some real strides, fans will find out more about it as things progress.
