Imagine and Radical Bringing Legends to the Big Screen

June 16, 2010

Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Barry Levine to produce

Imagine Entertainment and Radical Pictures are teaming up to bring graphic novel "Legends: The Enchanted" to the big screen. Howard and Grazer will produce for Imagine, Barry Levine for Radical. Created, written and illustrated by Nick Percival, "Legends" is described as follows:

You think you know them. Think again.

Violently ripped from the pages of folklore come the Enchanted. Supernatural immortals living in a dark, steampunk, creature-infested world where nature, technology and foul magic are in constant conflict. When the twisted, burnt remains of the half-wooden, half-mechanical warrior, Pinocchio, are discovered, wolf hunter Red Hood and giant killer Jack realize the fragile rules of their existence have been shattered. With the help of other powerful Enchanted (the mercenary, Goldilocks and psychic exterminators, Hansel and Gretel), Jack and Red team up on an adventure to stop whatever, or whoever is destroying their powers and murdering their kind.

No writer has yet been hired to adapt, nor is it set up at any studio.

The title comes out this month. You can watch the trailer for the graphic novel below and visit the official site for more info.

Other graphic novel adaptations in the works at Radical include Last Days of American Crime, based on the work by Rick Remender to which Sam Worthington is attached to star, and Oblivion, being developed with Tron Legacy director Joe Kosinski.

Sounds cool, but hopefully Ron Howard's involvement won't be too distracting for him. He needs to focus on The Dark Tower films, first and foremost!

I agree with darqjakob. This sounds quite a bit like FABLES. I have never heard of Legends: The Enchanted.

Well the reason no one has heard of this is because the graphic novel isn't even out yet. And yes it's similar to Fables in the sense of playing with fairy tale characters, but not stealing. So in short a comic that isn't even out might be made into a movie.... that's not really news. How often are comics we've never heard of being optioned to be a movies? Can we please start waiting till the comics are out before announcing the movies.. or better yet just write a screen play instead of a comic?

"PLease stop inflicting your 'attempts' at artistic credibility on us, Mr. Howard."

I can't believe what a jerk Ron Howard turned out to be. His DaVinci Code work and spite filled interviews have turned me off his work forever. It's too bad because films like Apollo 13 and Cinderella Man are classics.
