REPORT – Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League May Be Delayed To 2023
Rocksteady was set to make its triumphant return to the DC Universe this year with the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. However, it sounds like players will have to wait a bit longer for Task Force X’s next mission. According to Bloomberg, the game’s developers have “quietly” delayed its release to 2023.
Gamers have been eagerly awaiting Kill the Justice League‘s debut ever since Rocksteady unveiled the title at DC FanDome in 2020. The original announcement trailer introduced the four-person team of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark. Throughout the campaign, the characters will have to fend off an alien invasion of Metropolis. And they must also fight brainwashed members of the Justice League. The studio released a new gameplay trailer during last fall’s DC FanDome livestream that also affirmed its original 2022 release window.
As of now, Rocksteady has yet to confirm the news through any of its social media channels. But Bloomberg claims that “the pandemic and other development challenges” are to blame for the game’s delay. Similar issues caused other upcoming Warner Bros. titles including Hogwarts Legacy and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga to be moved to this year after previously being scheduled for 2021.
Kill the Justice League notably marks Rocksteady’s first significant project since Batman: Arkham Knight n 2015. The game also reportedly takes place in the same universe as the Arkham franchise. Despite this shakeup, DC is still releasing at least one new game this year with Gotham Knights, which was developed by Warner Bros. Games Montréal.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
