A reported update about Disney+ Marvel TV shows will excite X-Men fans.
Marvel Television recently premiered the Wonder Man TV show, which was created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest. Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams/Wonder Man and Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, all eight episodes of the series are available to watch on the Disney+ streaming service.
Coming up next for Marvel Television is Daredevil: Born Again, which premieres next month, while VisionQuest and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 are expected to come later this year.
What Disney+ Marvel update will excite X-Men fans?
Scooper James Mack was recently asked if Marvel Studios has any more plans to use the Marvel Spotlight banner for TV shows outside of more potential seasons of Wonder Man.
Mack answered, “An interesting piece of information is that Marvel plans to develop solo series focused on specific mutants for Disney+ in the next saga.”
Not too much has been officially announced regarding what direction the MCU is headed in after Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, meaning this is just a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt at this time. It is, however, exciting to consider the possibilities, as there are a countless number of X-Men characters in Marvel Comics who could potentially get their own show at some point in the future.
It is known that Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier is developing an X-Men movie. No casting has yet been announced, and it’s unclear what characters will be featured in it; all that’s really known at this time is that it will arrive after Doomsday and Secret Wars.
There are a number of X-Men characters — Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Ian McKellen’s Magneto, Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique, James Marsden’s Cyclops, and Channing Tatum’s Gambit — who will be in Avengers: Doomsday, which releases on December 18, 2026. Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027.
