Jessica Jones Season 4 Takes Major Step Forward After NYCC Tease

It’s starting to seem extremely likely that Jessica Jones will be the next Marvel Cinematic Universe character to receive her own Disney+ series.

Created by Melissa Rosenberg for the Netflix/Marvel era, Jessica Jones ran for three seasons between 2015 and 2019, following Krysten Ritter’s title character, an ex-superhero turned private investigator, as she opens her own detective agency, Alias Investigations, and works to stop the villainous Kilgrave. When Netflix canceled the series, fans weren’t sure they would ever see Ritter’s Jessica Jones again. Thankfully, Marvel is finally bringing her back for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, and it sounds like her renewed MCU journey won’t end there.

What’s the latest rumor regarding Jessica Jones Season 4?

According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Marvel Studios has begun looking for writers for the upcoming Jessica Jones project that Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum hinted was in the works at New York Comic Con 2025. While on the Phase Hero podcast at NYCC, Winderbaum addressed the possibility of a “Born Again” project for Jessica Jones, sharing that one may be coming “sooner than you think.”

Ritter later joined the Phase Hero episode, where she expanded on Winderbaum’s tease by revealing, “There’s a lot of stuff that I’ve felt there was room to explore, and Brad and I talked about it. And I am not going to say any of it, because we’re going to be doing it.”

The Jessica Jones revival would be Marvel Studios’ third project to feature a major character from Netflix’s Defenders Saga, after Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. The Daredevil continuation has already wrapped production on its second season and is in development on its third, while the Punisher will receive a Marvel Studios Special Presentation that is expected to bridge the gap between his appearances in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Ahead of this mystery Jessica Jones project, the character will appear in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which is slated to premiere on Disney+ in March 2026. The upcoming season will find Daredevil putting together an army to go up against Mayor Kingpin and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force, which is likely how Ritter’s Jessica Jones comes into the story.

All the Marvel shows are now available to stream on Disney+.
