Report: A Daredevil Reboot May Be in the Works

It’s been a big week for the Marvel TV shows that formerly called Netflix home. On Wednesday, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher joined Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as the latest additions to Disney+. That puts the vast majority of Marvel’s television series under one roof for the first time. However, it may have also been a prelude to a continuation of Daredevil. The new issue of Production Weekly lists a Daredevil reboot among Marvel Studios’ upcoming projects.

Rumor outlets have essentially said the same thing since the show was cancelled in 2018. This is different because Production Weekly is a Hollywood trade, and not a press outlet that tends to post anything unfounded. And while the project in question is still unannounced, its placement here suggests that Marvel already has a timeframe in mind.

The groundwork for Daredevil’s return was already laid in Hawkeye and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox reprised their respective roles as Wilson Fisk and Matt Murdock/Daredevil. Having all three of the previous seasons at Disney+ also gives Marvel a free hand to use the characters.

A lot questions are currently unanswered about whether the rest of the cast will return, or if any revival will maintain the TV-MA rating of the first three seasons. But something is happening. And if it already has a production schedule, it may be coming sooner than we expected.
