After recently tackling Moon Knight’s live-action debut, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are about to check in on the Time Variance Authority. Deadline is reporting that Benson and Moorhead will direct the majority of episodes in Loki season 2.
Benson and Moorhead previously directed their own block of episodes for Marvel’s upcoming Moon Knight series. And according to Deadline’s sources, the studio was so impressed by their work that it wanted to bring them onto another project as quickly as possible. The duo are replacing Kat Coiro, who helmed all six episodes of Loki’s first season and confirmed her departure from the series last summer.
Before Moon Knight, Benson and Moorhead directed sci-fi horror films including Synchronic and The Endless. They also recently helmed two episodes of Archive 81, which had its world premiere on Netflix last month. In 2018, they directed an episode of CBS All Access’ Twilight Zone revival.

Additionally, the report confirms that Eric Martin is writing all six episodes of Loki’s second season. Martin previously wrote the fourth episode of season 1 and also co-wrote the series finale with head writer Michael Waldron. Waldron will return to executive produce the show alongside series star Tom Hiddleston.
Earlier this week, Owen Wilson revealed that production on the next season will begin soon. The last time we saw the God of Mischief, he was back at TVA headquarters after Sylvie’s murder of He Who Remains caused a rift in the multiverse that left the organization’s higher-ups unaware of Loki’s identity. Presumably, the new season will also tie into Jonathan Majors’ appearances as Kang the Conqueror in other Marvel projects like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Disney+ still hasn’t announced a release date for Loki season 2.
