Most of today’s DC FanDome events were centered on well-known characters like Batman. However, one presentation was made for a character who has only been around for two years. Next year, The CW is debuting Naomi, a new live-action series based on the comic created by Brian Michael Bendis, David F. Walker, and artist Jamal Campbell.
Within both the comic and the show, Naomi McDuffie (Kaci Walfall) is the ultimate fan girl. She loves superheroes, and also passionately follows their exploits online. Within the DC FanDome preview scene, Naomi openly blows off her class in school just to get a glimpse of Superman. Unfortunately for Naomi, she doesn’t quite make it on time. Because ordinary people rarely get face time with their superheroes.
However, Naomi is far from an ordinary person. And this incident will send Naomi on a journey into the multiverse to discover who she is and where she really comes from.
Here’s the official description from The CW:
“From Oscar nominee/Emmy winner Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship (Arrow), and starring Kaci Walfall in the title role, Naomi follows the journey of a cool, confident, comic book–loving teenager as she pursues her hidden destiny. As Naomi journeys to the heights of the Multiverse in search of answers, what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes.”
Naomi will debut on The CW in early 2022.
