The CW Releases the First Look At Powerpuff Live-Action Series

Assuming that The CW picks up the live-action Powerpuff Girls series, then the Cartoon Network superstars will be back next fall. The CW has released the first image from Powerpuff, which features Dove Cameron, Chloe Bennet, and Yana Perrault as the grown up heroines.

Cameron is pictured as Bubbles on the far left. She “won America’s hearts as a child,” and “still sparkles as an adult, but her charming exterior belies an unexpected toughness and wit. She’s initially more interested in recapturing her fame than saving the world, but she just might surprise us and herself.”

In the middle, Bennett appears as Blossom, the “spunky, conscientious, Little-Miss-Perfect child who holds several advanced degrees.” However, Blossom has experienced “kiddie-superhero trauma” that “has left her feeling anxious and reclusive.” Regardless, she may be able “to become a leader again — this time on her own terms.”

Finally, on the right side, Perrault is in character as Buttercup. She was formerly the “rebellious badass” of the team. But she has “spent her adulthood trying to shed her Powerpuff Girl identity and live an anonymous life.”

Donald Faison will also co-star in the series as the Powerpuff Girls’ creator and adoptive father, Professor Drake Utonium. Additionally, Nicholas Podany will portray Joseph “Jojo” Mondel Jr., the son of Mojo Jojo. Robyn Lively rounds out the cast as Sara Bellum.

Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody co-wrote the Powerpuff pilot, which is being directed by Maggie Kiley. The CW hasn’t officially given Powerpuff a greenlight to go forward as a series. But it seems likely to happen.
