Marvel Announces the Voice Cast For Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur
Way back in the summer of 2019, Marvel took the stage at Disney’s D23 event to share that an animated series based on its Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur comics was in the works. And if you don’t remember this, don’t be surprised. The expo was effectively dominated by Marvel Studios, who also used the event to announce several new live-action MCU shows coming to Disney+. But now, Moon Girl’s producers have just taken a big step toward getting Lunella Lafayette’s small-screen debut off the ground. The Disney Channel has finally revealed the full voice cast for the series.
Diamond White is headlining the series as Lunella, a relatively new addition to the Marvel Universe. Writers Brandon Montclare & Amy Reeder, and artist Natacha Bustos introduced Luna in her own comic book series in 2015. A precocious child with a knack for inventing, Lunella’s life changes when she accidentally opens a gateway to a parallel universe and brings a 10-ton dinosaur into her dimension. Viewers will follow along as they team-up to defend New York’s Lower East Side from a variety of superpowered threats.
Alfre Woodard will co-star on the series as Lunella’s grandmother. The supporting cast also includes Libe Barer as Lunella’s best friend and manager, Casey; Sasheer Zamata as Lunella’s mom, Adria; Jermaine Fowler as Lunella’s dad, James Jr.; Fred Tatasciore as Devil Dinosaur; and Gary Anthony Williams as Lunella’s grandfather, Pops. Additionally, Laurence Fishburne is executive producing the series and also voices The Beyonder. In this incarnation, the character is also “a curious and mischievous trickster.”
The Disney Channel hasn’t set a release date for Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.
