First Clips of Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. Showcase Robot Chicken-Style Humor

The Marvel Cinematic and TV universe has covered many subgenres so far, from the Blaxploitation of Luke Cage to the science fiction of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But now, perhaps spurred by the success of Harley Quinn on the DC side, it’s going full animated comedy. In Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. for Hulu, S.H.I.E.L.D. veteran Patton Oswalt voices the massive-headed monstrosity as a harried dad and beleaguered CEO of AIM.

If the show resembles Robot Chicken, that’s no surprise. Stoopid Buddy studios worked on the series, giving it a similar vibe and sense of humor. Via EW, at the recent virtual New York Comic Con show cocreator Jordan Blum revealed that the show will introduce M.O.D.O.K’S family for the first time. We’ll meet M.O.D.O.K.’s wife, Jodie (Aimee Garcia), his son Lou (Ben Schwartz), and his beloved daughter Melissa (Melissa Fumero). Jodie looks like a normal human, as does lab-grown son Lou, while Melissa takes after her dad as a large head with spindly appendages.

As the show centers on a super-villain, M.OD.O.K.’s primary antagonists will be the only thing worse than comic book bad guys. Corporate suits! Running an evil organization proves to be tougher than it looks, with all the bureaucratic red tape and corporate culture that gets in the way of efficient evil deeds.
