Shivani Ghai Joins the Cast of Batwoman Season 2

Next season on Batwoman, all eyes will be on Javicia Leslie as she becomes the new Scarlet Knight. But she won’t be the only fresh addition to the series when it returns to The CW. FandomWire brings word that Shivani Ghai will have a recurring role in the new season.

Ghai will appear in several episodes as Safiyah Sohail, a character who was mentioned throughout Batwoman’s first season. Sohail is the “fiercely protective ruler of a small community on the island of Coryana.” Viewers will recall Coryana as the home of the universal cure-all medicine known as the Desert Rose. Sohail previously crossed paths with the show’s main villain, Alice, offscreen when she sent an assassin to kill the Wonderland Gang. However, Sohail was more closely tied to the original Batwoman, Kate Kane, in the comics.

Sohail is also described as “a woman with as many enemies as aliases. She is compassionate and charismatic with both physical and psychological prowess. She is beloved by her people and will stop at nothing to protect what’s hers. No one goes unnoticed by Safiyah, specifically when it comes to those who have encountered the Desert Rose.”

Ghai previously starred in SYFY’s Dominion as Arika. She also made recurring appearances on ABC’s The Catch. Ghai also had a role in London Has Fallen.

Batwoman season 2 will premiere on The CW in 2021.
