Disney+ Sets 2020 Schedule For MCU Shows & The Mandalorian Season 2

Disney+ Sets 2020 Schedule For MCU Shows & The Mandalorian

Today, Walt Disney Studios has announced that over 28.6 million subscribers have signed up for Disney+  to date. And to keep the momentum going, Disney+ has revealed the release windows for three of its upcoming flagship series.

Via VarietyThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier will launch in August and pick up post-Avengers: Endgame. This confirms an earlier rumor that Disney+ was moving the series up from its planned fall 2020 release.

Additionally, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that The Mandalorian season 2 will follow in October. That’s only 11 months after the series premiered on Disney+ and quickly became the most popular Star Wars story in the Disney era. Placing The Mandalorian in October will also presumably allow it to premiere after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier wraps up.

Finally,  WandaVision will close out 2020 with a December release on Disney+. That series had originally been scheduled for 2021. However, it was likely pushed forward because Disney+ needed another big draw for this year. Additionally, Disney+ will already have Marvel shows throughout 2021, including What If…?, Loki, and presumably Hawkeye. But The Mandalorian has yet to be formally renewed for a third season. If it does come back, The Mandalorian season 3 will probably also arrive in 2021.
