New Thunderbirds TV Series Being Developed

Deadline is reporting that an updated version of Thunderbirds, tentatively titled ‘Thunderbirds Are Go!,’ is being developed by the UK’s ITV Studios, Pukeko Pictures, and Weta Workshop. The updated series is said to be a combination of CGI work with live action model sets as used in the original series in 1965 created by Gerry Anderson (who passed away last year). 26 half-hour episodes have been ordered for the series, and they are set to air in 2015.

“Thunderbirds is a highly respected brand that continues to hold recognition around the world.’ said ITV’s Denise O Donoghue “This cult series is often credited as changing the history of animation and action-adventure, and we look forward to taking the show to another level while retaining the much-loved heritage that has endured over the past fifty years.”
