Tom Hiddleston’s $1.5 Billion Sci-Fi Movie Finds Resurgence on Streaming

Tom Hiddleston’s breakout Marvel performance has returned to the spotlight years after its theatrical debut. The blockbuster has climbed Hulu’s streaming rankings, drawing renewed attention as excitement builds for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Marvel’s original crossover phenomenon has become one of Hulu’s most-watched movies in the United States. According to Flix Patrol‘s streaming rankings, The Avengers has entered Hulu’s Top 10, signaling renewed interest in the superhero epic as Marvel prepares for the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Released on May 4, 2012, The Avengers marked the first major team-up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Joss Whedon, the film united Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Tom Hiddleston, whose portrayal of Loki became one of Marvel’s most celebrated villain performances. The story follows Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as they join forces to stop Loki and an invading Chitauri army from conquering Earth.

The film proved to be a landmark commercial success. Produced on an estimated budget of about $220 million, it earned roughly $1.5 billion worldwide, becoming the first Marvel Studios release to cross the $1 billion mark and one of the highest-grossing movies of its era. It also received widespread critical acclaim, holding an 8.0/10 rating on IMDb and a 91% critics’ score with a 91% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Avengers clicked with fans because it pulled off what once seemed impossible, packing a lineup of larger-than-life heroes into one movie without anyone feeling like an afterthought. Critics applauded the sharp banter, explosive set pieces, and the cast’s effortless teamwork, while Tom Hiddleston’s scene-stealing Loki quickly became the franchise’s ultimate troublemaker and one of Marvel’s most beloved villains.

With the MCU gearing up for Spider-Man: Brand New Day and its next wave of crossover spectacles, the film’s streaming comeback is proof that fans haven’t forgotten the film that started it all.
