Spider-Man: Brand New Day may feature a Hulk transformation unlike anything the MCU has ever shown. A new rumor reveals dialogue and details about Bruce Banner’s surprising new form in the upcoming film.

Rumor reveals Spider-Man: Brand New Day dialogue with Grey Hulk
Scooper MyTimeToShineHello on X shared a rumored line of dialogue from Spider-Man: Brand New Day on June 4. The post claims Spider-Man says to Hulk, “I didn’t know you can get that big.” The scooper followed up with a second post stating that Grey Hulk is bigger than Green Hulk in the film.
Mark Ruffalo plays Bruce Banner/Hulk in Brand New Day alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. Banner now works as a professor at Empire State University teaching quantum mechanics. Parker turns to Banner for help regarding his evolving superpowers in the film.
The film’s trailer previously confirmed Ruffalo’s appearance and revealed Banner wearing an inhibitor device. The device suppresses gamma radiation in his body, allowing him to appear in human form. Marvel Studios first introduced this technology in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Grey Hulk represents a distinct persona from the traditional Green Hulk in Marvel Comics. The character first appeared in the original Incredible Hulk #1 in 1962 before transitioning to green. Grey Hulk later returned as the cunning “Joe Fixit” persona in the late 1980s comics.
Tom Holland previously expressed interest in a Spider-Man and Hulk team-up within the MCU. Specifically, he enjoyed comic images of the pair together and suggested they should share a “big brother–little brother” dynamic. Interestingly, Holland and Bernthal’s characters reportedly developed a similar dynamic through improvisation during filming.
Meanwhile, Sony and Marvel Studios included Ruffalo as part of their special agreement for the film. Notably, previous MCU Spider-Man films each featured a major co-star, continuing the Marvel Team-Up comic tradition.
Brand New Day releases in the United States on July 31, 2026.
