Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be chock full of new villains, one of whom will reportedly have a future beyond the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel.
Two Spider-Man villains have so far been confirmed for Brand New Day: Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, reprising his role from 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone. Reported plot details have also described Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk as a “secondary antagonist,” with the character set to go on a rampage after Jean Grey’s powers are used on him.
Tarantula, Boomerang, Ramrod, and The Hand have also been rumored for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The first two’s inclusion in the MCU sequel has since been confirmed after official merchandise for the movie spoiled their involvement and offered fans a first look at their costumes. A supposed leak cast list for the movie also listed Rhino, 8-Ball, Chameleon, and the Jackal as villains set to appear.
Which Spider-Man: Brand New Day villain will return in future MCU movies?
However, only one villain mentioned above is reportedly set to appear in a future MCU movie. According to trusted scooper Alex Perez on X, Tombstone will be an overarching villain throughout the entire new Spider-Man trilogy. This will make him one of the few MCU villains to appear in more than one project.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will pick up roughly four years after the events of 2021’s No Way Home, which ended with the universe forgetting who Peter Parker was. While plot details are under wraps, the sequel is expected to be more grounded than the multiverse adventure fans witnessed in No Way Home.
Tom Holland is set to make his seventh appearance in the MCU as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Brand New Day. Production on the superhero sequel lasted from August to December 2025, with Destin Daniel Cretton in the director’s chair.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
