Early industry projections indicate that the Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures blockbuster could deliver an opening weekend even bigger than Spider-Man: No Way Home’s. If the forecasts prove accurate, the film could rank among the biggest domestic debuts in history.
Brand New Day’s box office opening could take Spider-Man to new heights
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is heading toward what could become one of the biggest opening weekends in box office history. Early industry tracking suggests the Marvel Studios and Sony blockbuster has a chance of surpassing Spider-Man: No Way Home’s domestic debut, placing the film among the highest-grossing launches ever recorded. If current projections hold, the latest Spider-Man film could set a new opening weekend record for the franchise.
According to Variety, most industry forecasts currently place Brand New Day’s domestic opening between $260 – $280 million. Those estimates would allow the film to move past Spider-Man: No Way Home, which debuted with $260 million in North America in 2021. Some analysts have suggested the film could climb beyond $300 million. However, Sony’s own internal projections reportedly remain more conservative at $190 million to $195 million.
Such a performance would place Brand New Day alongside the most successful opening weekends in theatrical history. Spider-Man: No Way Home earned $260 million in its domestic debut, making it the second-largest opening weekend of all time behind Avengers: Endgame, which launched with $357 million.
International markets are expected to provide another significant boost. Current forecasts estimate an overseas opening of $275 million to $300 million, with analysts indicating the final total could finish above those figures.
The strong projections reflect continued audience interest in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man following the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The 2021 film earned nearly $1.9 billion worldwide despite not receiving a theatrical release in China. Brand New Day will also benefit from premium large-format screenings, but it will not play in IMAX during its opening because Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey continues to occupy the format under its exclusive engagement.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to open in theaters on July 31, 2026.
