A new teaser for The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 has confirmed the release date window of the anime, giving the series’ first major update in years. Released during MF Bunko J’s Autumn School Festival 2025 event, the preview also introduces several new characters and updates designs. The announcement follows growing anticipation since the first season concluded in 2021.

New details for The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 were unveiled during MF Bunko J’s Autumn School Festival 2025. The series’ segment introduced a fresh teaser and confirmed a July 2026 broadcast window.
The presentation also offered an early look at several incoming characters. The event showcased updated character designs, including first-look illustrations of Scarlet and Mia. Moreover, character art for younger versions of Alicia, Siesta, and Nagisa was presented.
The returning voice cast includes Shin Nagai as Kimihiko Kimizuka, Saki Miyashita as Siesta, Ayana Taketatsu as Nagisa Natsunagi, Kanon Takao as Yui Saikawa, and Saho Shirasu as Charlotte Arisaka Anderson.
Behind the scenes, Manabu Kurihara resumes directing duties at Studio ENGI. Deko Akao once again oversees the series composition, while Yosuke Ito continues as character designer.
The first season of The Detective Is Already Dead, which premiered in July 2021 and ran for twelve episodes, followed Kimihiko, a student who becomes the assistant to the detective Siesta after stopping a hijacking together. They spend years solving cases around the world until Siesta dies.
The story then shifts to Kimihiko a year later, when a new case forces him to confront unfinished events linked to Siesta. The first season is currently available on Crunchyroll.
Season 2 was announced in 2022, following the debut season’s broadcast in 2021. With the mid-2026 release window now confirmed, further updates on production and supporting details may follow soon.
