Scarlett Johansson has opened up about her favorite character in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the answer should come as no surprise.
Who did Scarlett Johansson say was her favorite current MCU character?
Speaking to Esquire UK at the premiere of her upcoming movie Jurassic World Rebirth, Johansson was asked if she has a current favorite MCU character. Sticking to her character, Natasha Romanoff, Johansson revealed that she had no choice but to say Yelena, Romanoff’s sister, who is played by Florence Pugh.
“I mean, I have to say Yelena is my favorite, of course,” Johansson said in the video (below).
Johansson spent over a decade playing the character Black Widow in the MCU, eventually bidding farewell to her in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Although fans may want her back, Johansson opened up earlier this month about why the character can’t return after her death in Endgame.
“It would be very hard for me to understand in what capacity [returning] would make sense for me, for the character that I play,” Johansson said. “I miss my buddies and really would love to be with them forever, but what works about the character is that her story is complete. I don’t want to mess with that. For fans, too—it’s important for them.”
While Johansson may not be in Avengers: Doomsday, her Black Widow family will be reprising their roles in Avengers: Doomsday, which releases in December 2026.
