A new rumor from an industry scooper claims that Avengers: Doomsday will feature two different Avengers teams. They also claim that Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova will lead one of them. Notably, Yelena will appear in Thunderbolts*, which had its world premiere at Cineworld Leicester Square on April 22, 2025. It comes out in US theaters on May 2, 2025.
Multiple Avengers teams rumored for Doomsday with Sam Wilson and Yelena to lead
Hollywood insider @MyTimeToShineH took to X (formerly Twitter) recently and claimed that Avengers: Doomsday will have two Avengers teams, and they will be led by Yelena and Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson / Captain America.
“Avengers Doomsday will have multiple Avengers teams trying to fight Doom, one is the Thunderbolts led by Yelena, the other is led by Sam,” @MyTimeToShineH shared in one post.
In a second post, @MyTimeToShineH listed a couple of the members who could be in Sam Wilson’s team. “Sam’s group will have Shang-Chi [Simu Liu] and Ant-Man [Paul Rudd] in it,” they posted.
The first post seems to indicate that the Thunderbolts team could get a rebranding as the Avengers by the end of their movie. Fans will likely get more clarification on the team’s future role when Thunderbolts* comes out.
Notably, it has already been announced that several members of the Thunderbolts team will appear in Doomsday. In late March 2025, Marvel Studios disclosed the names of over 20 cast members for Doomsday. Pugh, Wyatt Russell (John Walker / U.S. Agent), Lewis Pullman (Bob / Sentry), David Harbour (Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian), and others from the Thunderbolts* cast were among them, as were Mackie, Liu, and Rudd.
Some of the other Doomsday cast members are Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom / Doctor Doom, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman.
Fans will get to see how all of the heroes team up when Avengers: Doomsday releases on May 1, 2026.
