Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 Release Date & The Ninth Jedi Spin-off Revealed

Star Wars: Visions received a major release date announcement during Star Wars Celebration Japan. Lucasfilm revealed key details about its upcoming third volume and a new spinoff series. Volume 3 will debut in October 2025 with nine new shorts. The Ninth Jedi spinoff will expand one of the anthology’s most acclaimed stories. Director Kenji Kamiyama returns to continue Kara’s journey and build on the legacy of his original short.

Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 gets October 2025 release date

Lucasfilm announced at Star Wars Celebration Japan that Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 will premiere on October 29, 2025.

James Waugh, Lucasfilm’s Senior Vice President of Franchise Content & Strategy, revealed that the new volume of the animated anthology will include nine shorts. Kenji Kamiyama, director of “The Ninth Jedi” short from Volume 1, appeared to preview one of the new entries, “Child of Hope.” He stated that the short will end with Kara leaving to search for her father. This storyline continues in the newly announced spinoff.

During the same panel, Kamiyama officially announced Star Wars: Visions Presents — The Ninth Jedi, a longer-form spinoff based on his original short. Kamiyama said, “Director Shiotani is making one more film this time [‘Child of Hope’], and it ends with Kara’s departure to look for her father in the first short film.” (via StarWars.com)

Kamiyama explained that the story follows Kara as she searches for her father, Juro, the creator of lightsabers that change color based on the Force. “What in the world was the reason for such lightsabers,” Kamiyama said. “I think it will be a story where those secrets will be told,” he added. He will serve as supervising director on the spinoff.

Elsewhere at the celebration, Lucasfilm announced an exciting Star Wars x Fortnite collaboration. It includes a five-part saga that will end with a live, end-of-season event. Each week will feature new content such as a themed Battle Pass and Force powers like Force Lightning. The collaboration will run from May 2 through early June.
