Arrow alum Emily Bett Rickards is ready to rewrite Felicity Smoak‘s ending.
The actor was introduced as the fan-favorite character in the third episode of Arrow’s first season. While Felicity was originally slated to just appear in a single episode, positive reception to both the character and Rickards’ performance resulted in her recurring across the remainder of the season. Beginning with Arrow Season 2, Rickards was promoted from recurring to the main cast.
Despite her character’s increased presence in later seasons, Rickards told Michael Rosenbaum in the latest episode of his Inside of You podcast (via TVLine) that she felt that Felicity “got a little lost in the later seasons,” expressing regret over being unable to “have changed that for her.”
Why is Emily Bett Rickards open to an Arrow revival series?
Rickards departed Arrow as a series regular following the Season 7 finale, returning only for the show’s series finale. Despite her exit, which came as a shock to the fandom at the time, Rickards told Rosenbaum that she would be interested in reprising Felicity for an Arrow reunion project, such as a TV movie or limited series.
“I want to give Felicity her flowers, to be honest,” explained Rickards on why she’d do an Arrow revival. “There are things that I wish that Felicity stood up for more. I love Felicity [so] I’m not doing it for Arrow or really the fans. I’d be doing it for Felicity. And then everybody else gets it just as a side effect!”

Based on Rickards’ comments, it’s clear that she would like to see Felicity receive a better ending than the one she got during Arrow’s final years. In the series finale, which continues a scene from the Season 7 finale, the Monitor reunites Felicity with her late husband Oliver Queen in a paradise dimension that will give them “all the time in the world.”
With Oliver and Felicity in the paradise dimension, it remains to be seen how a revival would bring the two characters back to Earth-Prime. However, The Flash managed to work around this issue when it brought back Stephen Amell as Oliver for a guest shot during its final season.
All eight seasons of Arrow are currently streaming on Netflix.
