Your Ready Player One Avatar Could Make It to the Big Screen!

A new contest wants you to design a Ready Player One avatar for the big screen adaptation

Pre-production on Steven Spielberg’s upcoming Ready Player One adaptation is moving forward and you’re invited to be a part of it! In the player below, you can watch as Ernest Cline, author of the best-selling novel, invites creatively-minded individuals to take part in a contest to design their own Ready Player One avatars. Five different fan-designed Ready Player One avatars will be selected to appear in the March 30, 2018 release.

In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the virtual utopia know as the OASIS. Wade’s devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within the confines of this digital world, puzzles that are based on their creator’s obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them. But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade’s going to survive, he’ll have to win – and confront the real world he’s been so desperate to escape.

Warner Bros. Pictures, Village Roadshow Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures production, the Ready Player One movie is being directed by Spielberg, who is also producing alongside Donald De Line, under his De Line Pictures banner, Dan Farah and Kristie Macosko Krieger. Bruce Berman will serve as executive producer. The film stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, with Simon Pegg and Mark Rylance.
