The Flash Reveals New Art, Talent and Upcoming Episode Details

Following the massive reception audiences gave this week’s series premiere, The CW’s newest DC Comics series, “The Flash” has released a new banner (click on the above for a larger version) and more than twenty new stills from the series’ third episode, “Things You Can’t Outrun.” Those can be seen in the gallery viewer below while the episode’s official synopsis reads as follows:

THE FLASH BATTLES THE MIST, CAITLIN TELLS BARRY ABOUT RONNIE — As Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team at S.T.A.R. Labs work to capture Kyle Nimbus (guest star Anthony Carrigan), a.k.a. The Mist, a dangerous new meta-human with toxic gas powers, they revisit the painful night the particle accelerator exploded and killed Caitlin’s (Danielle Panabaker) fiancé, Ronnie (guest star Robbie Amell). Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse Martin) decides to finally visit Henry (John Wesley Shipp) in jail after all these years, but things take a dangerous turn when Kyle shows up looking to punish Joe for arresting him years ago. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) and Eddie (Rick Cosnett) continue to hide their relationship from Joe. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Alison Schapker & Grainne Godfree (#103). Original airdate 10/21/2014.

It doesn’t end there, though! TVLine is reporting that Andy Mientus (“Smash”) has signed on to play Hartley Rathaway, DC Comics’ Pied Piper. The Rathaway character made his first appearance in 1959’s “The Flash” #106 as a man who, born deaf, becomes obsessed with sound, eventually discovering how it can be used to hypnotize others. In 1991, the character, having given up his life of crime, became one of the first DC Comics characters to come out as being openly homosexual.

Then, The Hollywood Reporter adds word that Victor Garber (“Alias”) will begin a recurring role as Dr. Martin Stein starting in episode 12. DC fans shouldn’t be too surprised that Stein is joining the series as we learned back in July that Robbie Amell (the real-life cousin of “Arrow” star Stephen Amell) is set to play Ronnie Raymond. In the comics, those two characters are merged, becoming the superhero Firestorm.
