The Odyssey star Elliot Page has pulled back the curtain on how one of his scenes from the movie, where he was buried alive, was filmed. The actor explained why he didn’t perform his own stunts in that sequence during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
During the interview, Page discussed his role as Sinon in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Without giving away any spoilers, the actor explained that Sinon is an Ithacan soldier who took part in Odysseus’ Trojan Horse ruse.

Elliot Page has opened up about one of his scenes from The Odyssey, where his character Sinon appears to come out of the ground. Speaking with Jimmy Fallon, the actor revealed that he did not perform that stunt on his own. He then explained how they shot the scene.
“I wasn’t actually buried in the earth,” Page shared. “That was incredible. But people really were.” He credited the “extraordinary stunt performers who were breathing through straws under the sand.”

Page went on to explain that the stunt was “very coordinated.” He further clarified that “safety was key, of course.”
Although Page did not physically film that particular shot, he shared that he did perform a separate stunt. “Something happened at the beginning of the movie to my character,” he shared, without giving out any spoilers. “But so that was a practical stunt that I did, which was classic Nolan in that way,” the actor shared.
Page had previously worked with Nolan on his 2010 sci-fi action movie Inception. Earlier in the interview, he shared that his first reaction to reading the script for The Odyssey for the first time “was similar to reading the script to Inception.”
The actor said The Odyssey’s script left him “breathless”. He added, “Like really blown away by something that was so complex, so massive. And with this tremendous engine and heart that just kept moving forward.”
