Ryan Gosling has recently been confirmed as the new Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The news has been long anticipated by Marvel fans, who previously said the actor was perfect for the role. At the same time, the update also brings Gosling in a “full circle” moment with Eva Mendes, his longtime partner.
In a recent Instagram post, she shared a clip of the actor from their movie, The Place Beyond the Pines. In the clip, Gosling is called the “perfect casting for Ghost Rider.” What made it even better was the caption, “Love, Roxy,” referencing Mendes’s character, Roxanne Simpson, from the original Ghost Rider film.
In the 2007-released Ghost Rider starring Nicholas Cage, Eva Mendes played the love interest of the titular character. Since Gosling’s casting news, fans are also expecting her to reprise this role.
Mendes and Gosling met in 2011 on the sets of The Place Beyond the Pines, where they played a couple with a child. This chemistry started building up off-screen, and the two have been together since then.

The Ghost Rider news was revealed during the San Diego Comic Con when Gosling made an appearance at the event. Alongside the lead star, Shawn Levy was announced as the director of the upcoming movie.
Recently, the two worked together on Star Wars: Starfighter, slated to release on May 28, 2027. Additionally, it was revealed that Jonathan Tropper would write the screenplay for the upcoming MCU movie. He worked with the duo on the aforementioned Star Wars movie.
The Ghost Rider movie update came ahead of Avengers: Doomsday‘s release. In the movie, the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four will come together to stop Doctor Doom. Since the movie has a multi-universal crossover, viewers may get a cameo from Ryan Gosling as the Ghost Rider sooner than expected. However, Marvel has not confirmed it yet.
As of now, the new Ghost Rider film does not have additional casting details. It also does not have a release date, but it is slated to release in 2028. Since the movie is in the pre-production stage, more details can be expected soon.
