Marvel Studios may have revealed which MCU hero ultimately defeats Doctor Doom. The entertainment brand and Hasbro recently unveiled new collectibles ahead of the release of Avengers: Doomsday. In an official press release, the toy company revealed a powerful character who could defeat Doom.
The special lineup of toys from the Marvel x Hasbro collaboration includes characters from the upcoming movie, like Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Thor, The Thing, and Shang-Chi, the latter considered to be the key to defeating Doctor Doom.
Among all the action figures, the master martial artist caught attention with Hasbro’s description. According to PEOPLE, it read that he “may be the only hero powerful enough to stop the threat the Avengers face.”
Why Shang-Chi could be the key to defeating Doctor Doom
Shang-Chi, holding the Ten Rings, is a master of martial arts and controls his physical conditioning, like regulating his nervous system, slowing bleeding, and controlling his blood flow. His rings also make him agile, providing him with superhuman strength, including flight.
The character is already deemed useful in the fight against Doctor Doom. But with the recent description provided, he may play a bigger role in defeating the multiuniversal threat.
While some fans agree that Shang-Chi is useful as an ally, they do not really believe the Asian hero to be the one to defeat the master of both advanced technology and dark mysticism. They claim that other heroes like Captain Marvel, Mr. Fantastic, Sentry, and Thor could be the key answer to defeating the threat.
However, some fans defended Shang-Chi by recalling the character’s past adventures. X user @GerrardSimoly wrote, “Friendly reminder that Shang-Chi defeated the Dweller-in-Darkness a powerful cosmic being with the TenRings.”
That said, it is also worth noting that the mystery of the Ten Rings has not yet been revealed. The mid-credits of the hero’s standalone movie revealed Wong, Captain Marvel, and Bruce Banner analyzing the rings. So, fans also speculate that the mystery about the Ten Rings could be revealed in Avengers: Doomsday.
In addition, the upcoming Avengers movie will conclude in Secret Wars. This adds to the theory that even if Shang-Chi has a smaller part in Doomsday, he could ultimately be key to the sequel’s events.
Avengers: Doomsday is slated to release on December 18, 2026. The release of Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027.
