True to the comics, Avengers: Doomsday will reportedly feature Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic and Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom clashing over how to save the Multiverse.
Doctor Doom vs. Mister Fantastic is one of the hottest rivalries in Marvel Comics history, up there with Spider-Man vs. Green Goblin, Captain America vs. Red Skull, X-Men vs. Magneto, and Thor vs. Loki.
When Robert Downey Jr. was announced to be playing Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, some fans were worried that Marvel Studios might downplay Doom’s ties to the Fantastic Four in favor of positioning him as an Avengers villain. However, according to insider Alex Perez of the Cosmic Circus, that seemingly won’t be the case.
Which two MCU characters will butt heads in Avengers: Doomsday?
In a new post on X, Perez revealed that Doom and Richards will share plenty of screentime, going on to share the following about their relationship in Doomsday: “2 geniuses with 2 very different ideas on how to save the multiverse are eventually bound to clash. They’re like 2 sides of the same coin, except in Doom’s case, he’s more experienced in knowing what to expect with incursions, while Reed has only seen the theoretical aspect of it.”
It’s beginning to look like the Fantastic Four will play a crucial role in the events of Avengers: Doomsday. Back in January, MyTimetoShineHello shared that Doom will request the Fantastic Four’s help in dealing with incursions, adding that the five, along with Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, will travel to the main MCU universe to warn the heroes living there about the incursions.
Of course, Doom will eventually betray the heroes, with multiple scoopers leaking that the Fantastic Four villain will be behind Loki’s death in Doomsday, as Doom needed his powers to take control of the Multiverse and reshape it into Battleworld.
Fantastic Four fans can witness Doctor Doom and Mister Fantastic’s complicated relationship when Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
