A new Black Panther 3 update has shed light on the potential plot of the upcoming third entry in series.
What is the latest Black Panther 3 update?
According to a new report from insider James Mack, the third entry in the upcoming movie is set to involve aliens in some fashion and will also “serve as the starting point for the cosmic arc” in the MCU’s new future.
Mack also noted he believes Black Panther 3 will be one of the first films released in the MCU’s next saga, and also teased the potential alien that would show up as Annihilus, a villain that has often been known to rule the Negative Zone in Marvel Comics and has had frequent run-ins with The Fantastic Four.
Rumors regarding the future of Black Panther in the MCU have been running rampant for some time. According to insider Daniel Richtman, a new Black Panther will be appearing in Avengers: Secret Wars, the film set to release in 2027 and act as a sequel to Avengers: Doomsday. Avengers: Doomsday arrives on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars is then dated for December 17, 2027.
Recent reports suggest that actor Damson Idris — who has long been rumored to be playing the character in the MCU — has met with Marvel Studios for the role. Richtman notes that a decision will be made soon, but didn’t exactly say when we might know whether or not Idris has stepped into the role.
Earlier this year, Jeff Sneider of The InSneider said he believes he knows Marvel Studios has already eyed select actors to play T’Challa, the role formerly played by the late Chadwick Boseman.
Shuri/Black Panther star Letitia Wright will be in Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives in December 2026 and is currently in production. Winston Duke’s M’Baku and Tenoch Huerta Mejía’s Namor, the latter of whom was the main villain of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, will also star in the film.
We also know that Black Panther 3 is in the works at Marvel, though a release date for that project has not yet been announced, meaning that it’ll be coming after Avengers: Secret Wars. Ryan Coogler is returning to direct the movie.
