A new report on the upcoming Spider-Man 4 has shed some light on what Mark Ruffalo’s Incredible Hulk role will be in the movie.
What’s the newest report on The Incredible Hulk’s role in Spider-Man 4?
During a recent Q&A session on The Cosmic Circus, insider Alex Perez was asked what The Hulk and Spider-Man’s journey’s might be in the movie, as Perez previously noted that the film will evoke a feeling of going back to the beginning of the MCU.
According to Perez, both characters will be coming “face-to-face with their own personal trauma” and guilt. For Spider-Man, this could be things he’s suppressed throughout the past few films. As for The Hulk, this could lead to a much angrier version of the iconic hero than we’ve ever seen.
“For Hulk, it’s similar, except it unleashes a big green monster on the rampage, angrier than he’s ever been before,” said Perez. “In previous iterations, Hulk, dare I say, shows restraint in the MCU? Even during the events of Age of Ultron when he was under the control of the Scarlet Witch, people were seriously injured and scared, but if I recall, he never killed anyone. In Brand New Day, he might get pushed to the point where he might just kill somebody.”
Another user asked Perez if Hulk will have a “redemption arc” in the upcoming movie. Perez laughed off the thought and actually said that it would more than likely be the opposite.
“If what I’ve heard happens in Brand New Day comes to pass, he might just get hated even more.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously helmed the MCU film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which was released in 2021. Cretton was also attached to direct the fourth Avengers movie for a time, back when it was called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but stepped down from the position in November 2023.
The movie will once again be led by Tom Holland as he reprises his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Emmy winner Zendaya and Jacob Batalo are also expected to return for the sequel.
They will be joined by cast members Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), Jon Bernthal, and Tillman, among others. The movie is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, and Avi Arad.
Spider-Man 4 will be released in U.S. theaters on July 31, 2026, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday (December 18, 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (December 17, 2027).
