A new rumor about Marvel Studios’ long-in-development Blade movie has surfaced online, teasing the potential future of the Mahershala Ali-led project. Since the MCU reboot was first announced in 2019, the movie has undergone multiple creative delays, including losing two directors and previously announced cast members.
What’s the new rumor about the Blade MCU movie?
The latest rumor from The DisInsider suggested that plans for the long-delayed Blade movie might have already been scrapped at Marvel Studios, despite recent reports about its continued development. The outlet claimed that Ali’s Blade might just eventually be introduced in the Avengers: Secret Wars movie or in the long-rumored Midnight Sons movie. However, this should be taken as just a rumor, as the outlet itself notes that when it comes to Marvel info, it is “not the best at nailing this stuff down.”
At the moment, the project has no official director or release date attached to it. Directors Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange were previously attached to the movie, along with writers Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Beau DeMayo, Michael Starrbury, Michael Green, and Eric Pearson. Since the movie has gone through multiple delays, it’s still unclear if Mia Goth and Milan Ray remain part of the cast after it was confirmed that Aaron Pierre and Delroy Lindo had already exited the project.
Besides Blade, Marvel Studios is also reportedly developing a Midnight Sons movie. A recent rumor suggested that the studio might be looking to Ghost Rider to become the supernatural team’s leader. It will be based on the Marvel Comics series created by Howard Mackie, Andy Kubert, and Bobby Chase in 1993. It centered around a team of supernatural heroes consisting of Ghost Rider, Blade, Moon Knight, Elsa Bloodstone, Doctor Strange, and more.
