Another Marvel Cinematic Universe actor may have just confirmed their return in Avengers: Doomsday.
Why do fans think Brie Larson is teasing a Captain Marvel return?
On Nov. 4, Brie Larson shared a photo of herself on her Instagram Story with the caption, “VOTED!” While that alone wouldn’t be enough to send the MCU fandom into a tizzy, it’s her second, much smaller caption that raised some eyebrows. “Ignore the wig,” she wrote in much smaller font than she had with “VOTED,” along with a shushing face emoji. The wig in question is long and blonde, very similar to the hairstyle Larson’s superhero, Captain Marvel, sported in her most recent MCU outing, The Marvels (2023).
Larson calling attention to the wig, which would have likely been overlooked by most of her followers, has many fans believing that she is hinting at her return as Captain Marvel in Avengers: Doomsday. Although Doomsday wrapped production in September, the upcoming blockbuster is expected to have a healthy amount of additional photography, which Larson could very easily be partaking in this week.

Larson first appeared as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the superhero’s self-titled film before returning for Avengers: Endgame, both released in 2019 during Phase 3 of the MCU. Following cameos in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) and Ms. Marvel (2022), Larson co-led The Marvels with Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau) and Iman Vellani (Ms. Marvel). If Larson is in Doomsday, it would mark her sixth appearance as the fan-favorite superhero in the MCU.
Larson’s Captain Marvel return teaser photo coincidentally comes on the heels of confirmed Doomsday star Simu Liu (Shang-Chi) alluding to The Hollywood Reporter that he shot the Avengers sequel with actors who have yet to be officially announced for the project by Marvel Studios.
Besides Larson, fan-favorite MCU actors who are expected to appear in Avengers: Doomsday but are not yet confirmed include Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell, among others.
Directed by the Russo Brothers, Avengers: Doomsday is slated to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
