X-Men: Who MCU’s Mutant Saga Will Revolve Around Reportedly Revealed

The X-Men are coming to the MCU, and a new report suggests that fans of the Summers family should be very excited.

Marvel Studios is releasing Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026. After that comes the sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, on December 17, 2027. Following Secret Wars, the MCU is then expected to begin its Mutant Saga, which will be a new series of stories revolving around the X-Men.

There haven’t been many details as to what this Mutant Saga will look like as of yet, though it’s known that Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier is helming an MCU X-Men movie.

Who will the MCU’s X-Men mutant saga reportedly revolve around?

According to a new report from Kristian Harloff, via ComicBookMovie, the Mutant Saga will largely be focused on Scott Summers/Cyclops and the entire Summers family.

While this is pure speculation, that would presumably mean that Marvel fans can expect to see plenty of Jean Grey, Alex Summers/Havok, and Vulcan/Gabriel Summers in future projects, as all these characters have close ties to Scott in Marvel Comics. Depending on which direction the studio chooses to go in, there’s also the possibility that Mister Sinister could be introduced relatively soon, as he’s responsible for creating a clone of Jean, named Madelyne Pryor, who then gives birth to Cable.

The report of the Summers family being the focus of Marvel’s Mutant Saga is only a rumor at this time, and should be treated as such, as there’s been no formal announcement from Marvel about the matter.

It is worth noting, though, that James Marsden will reprise his role as Cyclops in Avengers: Doomsday. While it seems unlikely that he’ll continue playing the character into the next MCU phase, given that he’s played him since 2000’s X-Men, it’s unclear how this will be addressed as things continue.
