A new Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars rumor suggests that one major MCU group won’t be appearing in either film.
Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the blockbuster superhero epic is currently expected to be released in 2026. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, then follows in 2027.
What major MCU group won’t return in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars?
Scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus was recently asked if the Eternals will be appearing in Secret Wars.
“No Eternals in Avengers: Secret Wars, as far as I know,” Perez answered.
This is just a rumor at this time; however, it does line up with comments that Kevin Feige has given in the past. While he’s said that he’s proud of the film, Feige has also stated that there are no plans to make Eternals 2 at this time.
Additionally, no Eternals characters have been announced as part of the Doomsday cast at this time. This even includes some of the supporting characters who appeared in the film as a tease for future Marvel Studios projects, such as Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman/Black Knight, Harry Styles’ Eros/Starfox, and the voice of Mahershala Ali’s Blade.
Directed by Chloé Zhao, the cast of Eternals also includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena, among others.
Marvel’s Eternals is currently available to stream on Disney+.
Avengers: Doomsday, meanwhile, arrives in United States theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU. Avengers: Secret Wars then follows on December 17, 2027, while Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives before both of those movies on July 31, 2026.
