James Gunn recently opened up about the status of The Batman Part II, as well as whether or not Robert Pattinson is ever going to be in the DC Universe.
What did James Gunn say about The Batman Part II and Robert Pattinson’s DCU status?
Speaking to Rolling Stone in a recent interview, Gunn was asked if there was still a “non-zero” chance that Matt Reeves’ Batman franchise will one day be in the DCU. Gunn revealed that the chances of it are “not likely,” but wouldn’t say for sure whether it would never appear.
“I would never say zero, because you just never know. But it’s not likely. It’s not likely at all,” said Gunn.
On the topic of The Batman Part II, Gunn also said that one thing that’s been rubbing him the wrong way is that people are saying the movie has been canceled. The Superman director said that, although there’s no script for the film yet, he’s perfectly fine letting Matt Reeves take his time with the project.
“I’ll also say Batman Part II is not canceled,” Gunn said. “That’s the other thing I hear all the time — that Batman Part II is canceled. It’s not canceled. We don’t have a script. Matt’s slow. Let him take his time. Let him do what he’s doing. God, people are mean. Let him do his thing, man.”
Robert Pattinson, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell are among the actors expected to return for The Batman Part II, reprising their respective roles as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Alfred Pennyworth, and Oz Cobb/Penguin from The Batman. Reeves has not disclosed who Pattinson’s Caped Crusader will be facing off against in the sequel, although everyone from Two-Face and Clayface to Hush and the Court of Owls has been rumored.
