A forgotten MCU hero is getting a new project, according to a recent report.
Following the recent release of Thunderbolts*, the next MCU project will be Ironheart, which premieres on Disney+ later that month. Following that comes The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July, while Avengers: Doomsday is now scheduled for December 2026.
Which MCU hero is reportedly getting a new project?
Marvel is currently developing a Hercules project, according to insider Daniel Richtman.
Hercules appeared in the post-credit scene of 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Brett Goldstein played him in that scene, which sees Hercules’ father, Zeus (played by Russell Crowe), send him on a revenge mission to kill Thor.
Hercules hasn’t been seen in the MCU since then. The new Hercules project should only be treated as a rumor at this time, as there has been no official announcement from Marvel or Goldstein that Hercules is returning. While he hasn’t been announced as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, there’s also the chance that he could show up in that movie, which is being directed by the Russo Brothers, given that Hemsworth’s Thor is confirmed to return.
Hercules is an important character in Marvel Comics. The modern version of the Greek god was adapted by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, with his debut being in 1964’s The Avengers #10. Throughout the years, Hercules has been a prominent member of the Avengers and played big roles in storylines such as “Civil War,” “Secret Invasion,” and more.
Goldstein is best known for playing Roy Kent in the Apple TV+ comedy show Ted Lasso. He also co-created the comedy series Shrinking and recently voiced Roland in 2024’s The Garfield Movie.
Directed and co-written by Taika Waititi, Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder — along with the other three Thor movies — are currently available to stream on Disney+.
