X-Men Rumor: Scream’s Neve Campbell Set to Join X-Men ’97 Season 2 as Beloved Mutant

UPDATE 5/12/2025: According to ComicBookMovie, Campbell has actually been tapped to voice Polaris in X-Men ’97 Season 2 instead of playing her in the forthcoming live-action MCU Movie. Marvel still has not officially commented on the matter.

Original story: Scream star Neve Campbell is rumored to have been cast in Marvel’s X-Men movie.

Marvel Studios is developing an X-Men movie that is expected to arrive sometime after Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The script for the film is being written by Michael Lesslie, while it was recently announced that Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier is in early talks to helm the project.

Which X-Men character is Neve Campbell rumored to have been cast as?

According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Neve Campbell has been cast as Polaris in the X-Men movie.

This is only a rumor at this time, as MyTimeToShineHello’s track record when it comes to breaking accurate scoops can be spotty. Marvel Studios has not commented on the matter, as no official casting has yet been announced.

Campbell is best known for playing Sidney Prescott in the Scream franchise, a role she’ll soon be seen reprising in Scream 7, which will be released in February 2026. Her filmography also includes 1996’s The Craft, 1998’s Wild Things, 2000’s Panic, 2003’s The Company, 2018’s Skyscraper, and more.

In television, Campbell has had roles in series such as Catwalk, Party of Five, Medium, The Philanthropist, House of Cards, The Lincoln Lawyer, and Twisted Metal, among other titles.

Polaris, created by Arnold Drake and Jim Steranko, first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1986’s The X-Men #49. Polaris is the daughter of Magneto and, similar to her father, has the ability to control magnetism. The character previously appeared in Fox’s The Gifted, a Marvel Comics show set in a different timeline than the Fox X-Men series that ran for two seasons, where she was played by Emma Dumont.

A release date for the new X-Men movie has not yet been announced. Up next for the MCU is Ironheart, which will premiere on Disney+ next month, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which arrives in July.
