A new rumor suggests that Avengers: Secret Wars will introduce the Thor Corps to the MCU.
Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, are currently working on two brand-new Avengers movies for Marvel Studios: Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives in 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars, which hits theaters a year later.
Official plot details for both films remain largely under wraps at this time, though there’s been no shortage of online rumors suggesting what the movies may be about.
One new recent rumor that has emerged is that the Thor Corps will be part of Avengers: Secret Wars (and potentially Doomsday). Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus said, “Thor’s in one of the images [that was leaked online], and I’m surprised no one has mentioned it on social media as far as what I have seen. But we’re getting Thor Corps in Secret Wars.”
What are the Thor Corps, and how could they factor into Avengers: Secret Wars?
Created by Tom DeFalco and Pat Olliffe, the Thor Corps fist appeared in 1991’s Mighty Thor #440. The original trio consisted of Beta Ray Bill, Dargo Ktor, and Eric Materson; although, the Thor Corps are perhaps best known for their role in Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić’s Secret Wars series.
In that storyline, God Emperor Doom creates a police force on Battleworld called the Thor Corps. This lineup included many incarnations of Thor from across the multiverse, including the Earth-616 versions of the God of Thunder and Jane Foster. They were made to serve God Emperor Doom and Sheriff Strange without question. They’re eventually convinced to join the rebellion against Doom during the latter half of the series.
There’s been no official word whether or not Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman will show up in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, as the Thor Corps’ inclusion in future MCU movies is just a rumor at this time.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on May 1, 2026, from Marvel, while Avengers: Secret Wars follows on May 7, 2027.
