Code 8 Part II: The Amell Cousins Return on Superhero Sequel’s First Poster

Netflix has released the first official poster for Code 8 Part II, its upcoming sequel to the 2019 sci-fi superhero film starring Robbie and Stephen Amell.

Revealed as part of Netflix’s Geeked Week, the Code 8 Part II key art revisits Connor Reed (Robbie Amell) and Garrett Kelton (Stephen Amell), who are shown in the custody of two robotic police officers. The film itself is due to arrive on Netflix sometime next year. Code 8 director Jeff Chan returns to helm the sequel. Chan also produces alongside the Amells and Chris Paré.

What is Code 8 Part II about?

An official synopsis for Code 8 Part II reads as follows: “In a world where 4% of the population are born with abnormal powers and heavily policed by high-tech robotics, an ex-con teams up with the drug lord her despises to protect a young girl from a corrupt police sergeant.”

Based on Chan’s 2016 short film of the same name, Elevation Pictures’ Code 8 premiered at the Sitges Film festival in October 2019. The film released nationwide in Canada two months later. It made its way to the United States via Netflix in April 2020. A sequel entered development in 2021, with the Amell cousins signing on to reprise their respective roles and Netflix picking up the global distribution rights.

Of course, the Amells are certainly no strangers to the superhero sphere. Stephen Amell is perhaps best known for playing the lead role of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow on The CW’s DC television series Arrow. Robbie Amell, meanwhile, portrayed Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm on Arrow spin-off The Flash. More recently, Robbie Amell has starred in such shows as Prime Video’s Upload and Netflix’s The Witcher.

Code 8 Part II premieres on Netflix in 2024.
