Comanche Take on a Predator in the Newest Prey Trailer

Before Dutch. Before Harrigan. Years before humans could even fight back with heavy weaponry. Three centuries ago, a Yautja stalked a Comanche tribe. In Prey, the fifth Predator movie aside from the Alien crossover films, the hunt goes both ways. A young woman looking to prove her skills in the field finds herself the target of an alien looking to do exactly the same thing. Take a look at the newest Prey trailer:

A version of this trailer leaked online over the weekend, but this is the official release. Legion‘s Amber Midthunder, who is actually Sioux, plays Naru, the aspiring warrior who discovers the existential threat from outer space. Retired basketball player Dane DiLiegro plays the Predator, who appears to have a mask fashioned from a skull this time. 10 Cloverfield Lane‘s Dan Trachtenberg directs.

Prey debuts on Hulu Aug 5. Because while the Predator character design is a pop culture icon, Predator sequels theatrically have proven a bit of a gamble. It’s likely to draw more casual eyeballs on streaming. And could possibly kickstart a new series of Predator historical adventures. The one that gave Harrigan the vintage pistol trophy in the second film obviously got it from somewhere in the past.
