Ryan Reynolds Pitched a Deadpool-Bambi Crossover to Disney
If Ryan Reynolds had his way, things would be pretty different and definitely crazier at Disney. The man behind the mask of Deadpool recently revealed a peculiar idea he had for a crossover between the Merc with a Mouth and Bambi. While promoting his upcoming Free Guy movie, the actor stated that it would be interesting to see the Marvel character confronting the man who left the baby deer without a mom. Too bad the House of Mouse shut it down.
“I wanted to do a short film of Deadpool interrogating the hunter who killed Bambi’s mom,” Reynolds said while talking with IGN. “But the whole gist of it is that Deadpool is actually just a huge fan. He’s not interrogating — he just wants to know how he could be the most loathed Disney character in the history of Disney… and of course, Disney was like, ‘well, I don’t think that’s ever going to happen.'”
While the Deadpool–Bambi crossover won’t likely happen anytime soon, Reynolds did subsequently make another idea happen when he put his doppelganger and Korg in the same room to critique Free Guy‘s trailer. Of course, it helped that both Reynolds and Taika Waititi worked on Free Guy. Since Disney also has the IPs for all three characters (Deadpool, Korg, and Guy), it wasn’t hard to put all the elements together.
Free Guy will debut on Aug. 13.
