Fallout Season 2, Episode 5, “The Wrangler,” had fans on the edge of their seats as Lucy seemed to land a brutal blow on the Ghoul. After their intense trek to New Vegas, the episode’s shocking finale left everyone wondering if one of the show’s most mysterious characters even made it out alive.
Did Lucy kill the Ghoul on Fallout Season 2 Episode 5?
Tension arises as Lucy and the Ghoul finally arrive in New Vegas, hot on Hank’s trail in Fallout Season 2 Episode 5. Flashbacks reveal that Cooper Howard’s first run-in with Robert House, the looming nuclear threat, and the F.E.V. (Forced Evolutionary Virus) virus that explains the Ghoul’s unstoppable drive. By the episode’s end, their bond shatters when Ghoul reveals he needed Lucy to strike a bargain with Hank. Lucy, feeling betrayed, grabs a stolen power fist and punches the Ghoul. He flies out of the window and is impaled.
This is the exact opposite of Lucy’s character in Season 1, showing just how much her morals have shifted and gotten a little murky on the road to New Vegas. Back then, she was kind, helpful, and grounded. However, now addiction has loosened her filters. That said, Lucy isn’t some cold-blooded killer who murders for fun or profit. Instead, she came from raw frustration, not a real intent to take a life.
The Ghoul’s survival is a different story. He’s not an average character. His post-apocalyptic toughness makes him nearly impossible to kill. Even after getting impaled, his insane regenerative powers are likely bring him back.
According to original Fallout lore, ghouls are humans warped by years of radiation, giving them some unique abilities. They shrug off radiation that would fry normal people, and some even feed off it. Non-feral ghouls can live for centuries without aging and resist radiation-related illnesses, while feral ghouls are experts in close combat, using claws and pack attacks to overwhelm enemies. With all that in mind, it’s safe to say Walton Goggins’ Ghoul might not be gone for good. Despite the show leaving it unconfirmed, it’s most likely that we’ve not seen the last of him.
