Why South Park 28 Isn’t Releasing a New Episode Tonight on Oct. 29

Viewers are curious to know why a new episode of South Park Season 28 isn’t releasing tonight on Comedy Central. The popular animated sitcom centers on four foul-mouthed friends, residing in the fictional town of South Park. They embark on several strange misadventures, which could be ordinary or supernatural. Since a new episode typically premieres on Wednesdays, the show’s absence on its usual date has sparked curiosity about the delay.

Here are the details on when the next episode will drop.

Why there’s no new South Park Season 28 episode tonight

South Park Season 28 will release a new Halloween special episode on October 31, 2025, at 10 pm ET/PT on Comedy Central. Therefore, the episode didn’t premiere on its usual release day, Wednesday.

The new episode is titled “The Woman in the Hat,” which sees the return of President Donald Trump and Satan in a satirical setting. The show took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a still from the upcoming episode, revealing what viewers could expect. In the image, Trump and Satan are wearing hard hats and are surrounded by the construction team. The workers appear to be demolishing the White House.

South Park has maintained an inconsistent schedule since the Season 27 premiere in July 2025, leaving many to wonder what’s causing the delay. Its premiere episode was surrounded by controversy, and further episodes were delayed as they weren’t completed on time, as stated by co-creator Matt Stone.

Surprisingly, this month, Season 27 abruptly ended, with the show jumping directly into Season 28. It was reported that Season 27 had no plans to have 10 episodes. The plan was always to have 5 episodes each in both seasons. Also, Comedy Central has never referred to these seasons as part of a continuous series. (via The Hollywood Reporter)

Season 28 finale is set for December 10, 2025.
