Viewers are curious to know why there’s no new episode of The Boys Season 5 airing this week on Amazon Prime Video. Created by Eric Kripke, the latest season centers around the Boys and Billy Butcher team up to end the rule of Homelander. They are confident they could do it as they wield a virus capable of destroying all the Supes. They want to put an end to the antagonist’s story as he aims to become immortal through the initial versions of Compound V, the V1.
As an episode premiered last week, its absence this time has made many wonder about the reason behind it and whether the show has ended or if more episodes are forthcoming.
Why there’s no new The Boys episode on this week on May 27?
There’s no new episode of The Boys Season 5 this week as it has ended. The finale titled “Blood and Bone” aired on May 20, 2026. It is to be noted that this installment was the final chapter of the series and that the show has officially ended.
In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Creator Kripke revealed that since the very start, the plan was always to wrap up the series in Season 5. He said, ” And then I would say plans really solidified that we were going to actually do it years ago. I think we were probably in the middle of making season three, so it could have been three or four years ago that we always knew.”
He said that he doesn’t know why he’s fond of number 5, but he thinks that it’s enough seasons for storytelling. He thinks the decision to keep the series restricted to a certain number may have stemmed from his profession as a TV writer, where the stories are usually structured in 5 acts. The creator also added that it’s a good amount of time for the audience to get well-versed with the character arcs.
“You can have your calm-before-the-storm moment, which is kind of what season four is for me. I say calm… you know what I mean. It’s about the characters and then you kick off into a climax,” he elaborated, referring to the last two seasons.
